Still, even while possessing strong Mental Focus you shall inevitably traverse portions along your course where the unforeseen circumstance arises. This point may take the guise of a lack of knowledge, skill, money, or other shortfall.

When your mind cannot fathom the nature of the next step, the ‘not knowing’ sets off the thoughts, feelings, and tense physiological impulses that comprise the cohesive experience of doubt. At that moment, most people simply suffer in self-conflict and inner turmoil, but you do not have to.

If you are involved in Sports, Business, or ANY COMPETITIVE ARENA, Mental Focus is the absolute linchpin that determines the directional swing of your personal performance in EVERY AREA of your life. Ever wonder why so many people possessing extraordinary physical talent fail to realize their full potential? Isn’t it curious that so many world-class competitors reach that level against overwhelming odds, even while lacking physical dominance, and that those who continue to excel for years beyond average are not always the most ‘athletically gifted’? Mental Focus for Athletes is NOT merely “paying attention” on the field or in the arena – it’s MUCH MORE. For effective LONG TERM, higher-level sports performance that stands the test of time – that endures and overcomes inevitable “ups and downs” – you must turn attention to more than merely your physical skills. YOU MUST BECOME AS DEDICATED A MENTAL ATHLETE AS YOU WOULD IN BEING A PHYSICAL ATHLETE.

The way you THINK about your task determines how you FEEL about it and whether you have the IMPULSE to hurry towards it because you anticipate pleasure. Think towards your task so that it incites anticipation of pleasure, and make sure you arrange your task so that it IS pleasurable for you. For example, do not allow unpleasant imagery hold sway. Instead, wipe that imagery from the stage of your imagination and, with determined resolve, construct imagery that is attractive in its appearance and feel. Do this continually in relation to tasks that you must do and you will develop the power of active, conscious Thought Control in a way that makes you a self-motivated, self-inspired person.
