Oh so you guys are just gonna go coming up with new brain theories, eh? LOL!
Actually, you're right, plus you can add the fact that many of these techniques require you to breathe in a controlled way that feeds more oxygen to the brain than you normally get throughout the day as you unconsciously maintain shallow, tense breathing habits.
There are other interesting 'side effects' you may encounter and you should not let them distract you – just keep training and you'll either get used to them or move past them, such as:
- Rushing torrents of incredibly creative ideas from out of nowhere without even trying
- Suddenly coming up with answers to things you never could have figured out before
- Seeing colors and tasting flavors with greater clarity or intensity
- Intuitively feeling or experiencing the rich textures of your environment (i.e. music sounding more incredible than ever, or certain types of music seeming terrible to you when it formerly was cool, while other music you didn't like (as with classical or opera) beginning to appeal to you because you are now noting the beauty of complex mathematical relationships among the notes)
- Feeling impatient with immature, petty nonsense that you would usually put with when it comes to people you know
- Finding unexplained desire for quietness so that you can think your thoughts all the way through
Too many to cover here, really, but just know that things will begin to change cognitively over time so that will have an impact on how you perceive and experience even the most mundane activities.
Again, don't waste time scratching your head over it or focusing on it – just keep training, because it gets ever more amazing.
SOME NEGATIVE THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR AND AVOID:
- You may be tempted by your own mind with a 'superior' feeling. Don't fall for it. It leads to delusional arrogance and you'll only end up making a jerk of yourself. The more brainpower you develop, the more wisdom should be your guiding rule. Remember that you're never as good as you're going to be later down the line.
- Your thoughts gain greater clarity, and thereby more force to distract you if you forget to ALWAYS make a priority of controlling your Attention, ESPECIALLY when you're not training. In other words, you should NEVER NOT be training. Are you ever NOT breathing for hours at a time? Then why should you surrender your Attention to mindless habit for hours at a time? If you want brainpower, always work to maintain Attention to where you are and what you are doing. Then you'll acquire power OVER Thought and power OF Thought.
